The consolidation trend in online poker continued this week with the announcement that two poker rooms on Playtech’s iPoker network have merged.

Playtech’s Gibraltar-licensed Noble Poker and Fair Poker players have been informed of the merge, in which Fair Poker player accounts and loyalty points have been transferred to Noble with a bonus offer as an incentive to stay with the action, using the same log in and passwords as in the past. The Fair Poker website has reportedly been rebranded to reflect the Noble identity.

No reasons were given for the merger with Noble, which – like Fair Poker – has been around since 2004. Fair Poker was formerly an Antiguan licensed property of the Intercontinental Online Gaming Group.

The Pokerstars Asia Pacific Poker Tour stop in Cebu in the Philippines attracted 317 entrants over the weekend, making it the largest poker competition yet in the country. This year’s event was the third APPT visit to Philippine shores, with previous events taking place in Manila.

Dong-bin Han of Korea took the main prize of $158 000 after a tense heads up with US player David Hilton, with other Korean player – Sim Somyung – finishing third.

Local players did not fare well in the competition, with only one – Mark Pagsuyuin – making the final table and heading for the exit in sixth place.

Past APPT Macau champ Nam Le from the United States only got as far as 12th place before being eliminated.

Australia is the next APPT destination, with a good entry field expected in Sydney starting December 1st, and qualifying satellites currently running on the Pokerstars website.
